Shop and Post Office Assistant
Salary: £10.90 per hour salaried post depending on hours agreed
Hours: 20 hours per week – other hours would be considered
Location: The Lido, 43 Shore Road, Innellan
Reporting to: Shop Manager
South Cowal Community Enterprises Ltd (SCCE) owns The Lido shop and Post Office in Innellan. We run it on behalf of the South Cowal Community who are our members.
We need a Shop and Post Office Assistant to join our team of managers and shop assistants. The post is responsible to the Shop Manager.
The post is for 20 hours, but as we are restructuring we have the opportunity to fit hours to the right candidate or candidates, so encourage applications that offer more, or less hours.
We are moving to open winter hours and summer hours, therefore there may be more hours on offer in the summer. We are looking for flexible, forward looking staff as we develop our services
Hours are allocated on a team basis to cover early opening, late shutting and weekends. Mostly you will be working at the same time every week. It involves opening up and closing the shop and Post Office so needs accuracy and numeracy.
We hope to recruit someone who is trained in Epos systems, IT and Post Office. Full training will be provided if not. A Criminal Record check will be required.
The duties and person specification are on the next page. Further information about the organisation can be found at: www.southcowal.com

Lido Community Shop Opening! Sat 25th Jan 2020
We had a great turn out last weekend at the Lido Community Shop opening. People gathered outside the shop to hear our, Chair Lorna Ahlquist, sing, yes sing, the praises of the community and funders who have all helped the SCCE purchase the shop, post office and flat above as a community asset. Our amazing staff team also got a tuneful ‘Thank you!’ for all their hard work over the last few months. The staff have kept the shop and post office running smoothly over the busy festive season which clashed perfectly with the purchase of the shop by the community. A lot of work but we did it!
Local kids took charge of the ribbon cutting (thank you!). The celebrations continued upstairs in the flat above the shop. Dunoon based Heather Bloom Tea Room donated a Lido decorated cake, which was enjoyed by many (thank you Karen at Heather Bloom!). We also served up samples of Argyll produce including vegan ‘Sheese’ made on Bute, Argyll Coffee, Bread from Blacks of Dunoon, eggs from local farms, Mull cheese, Wee Dairy Milk from Gigha, pate from Argyll smokery, Venison from Churchills of Sandbank and Work Bench IPA from Fyne Ales.

Importantly people had the opportunity to look around the flat and review future plans to convert the space into a Bunkhouse and flexible community space. We also displayed visuals of the new shop front and branding that we plan to introduce into the shop.
Share holder certificates were also given out to people. If you haven’t picked yours up yet then these will be hand delivered to your door over the next few weeks.
